Teil 12: Darwin (41st-43rd Day)

	Sonnenuntergang an Fannie Bay. Dort gibt es auch Mini-Krebse, die kleine Schneckenhäuser in der Gegend herumschleppen (als Schutz). Sunset at Fannie Bay. There are also Mini-crabs, that carry little snail shells around, using them as a shelter.

	Besuch in der Ausstellung Indo-Pacific Marine, die in diesem Becken ein seit etwa 25 Jahren (fast) autark lebendes Korallenriff beherbergt und viele weitere Aquarien hat. Leider sind die Tage gezählt - in zwei Monaten soll Schluss sein. Sehr schade, denn die Ausstellung ist sehr beeindruckend - und die Führung ist sehr informativ. http://www.indopacificmarine.com.au/ Visit of the exhibitioin Indo-Pacific Marine, which shows in this pool a coral reef that lives (nearly) autark since 25 years and has many additional aquariums. 	Öltunnel - eigentlich ein unterirdischer Tank, der im Zweiten Weltkrieg gebaut wurde (und nur sehr kurz so ein bißchen als Tank genutzt wurde). Als Touristenattraktion ganz brauchbar - und vielleicht auch als Mahnnmal, wieviel Energie und Menschenleben nutzlos in Kriegen verbraucht werden. Die Japaner, die damals Darwin bombardiert haben, machen jetzt gerade ein Manöver mit Amis und Australieren ... Oil tunnel - or rather an underground tank, which was been build in Second World War (and has been used only very short as a tank). As a tourist attraction quite useful - and may be also as a memorial how much energy and human lifes have been wasted in wars. The Japanese, who then bombed Darwin are right now doing a joint maneuver with Americans and Australians ...
Und dann war da noch die wichtige Frage zu klären, ob die riesige Baumschlange, die wir bei unserem Besuch am Anfang der Reise im Botanischen Garten gesehen hatten, echt oder künstlich ist. Die Antwort ist: sie ist Kunst. And then we had to clarify the important question, whether the huge tree snake, which we saw at our visit in Darwin at the start of the journey in the Botanical Gardens, is true or artificial. The answer is: it is a piece of art.
